Decking is a versatile way to create useable flat space in your garden. It can be used in most areas at a variety of heights making it a practical solution when alternative landscaping such as paving may not be suitable.
Deck boards come in three main types; softwood, hardwood and ‘composite’.
The important factor for wood used outdoors is that it is durable enough to resist fungal decay. Softwood deck boards are pressure treated for outdoor use and are a cheaper alternative to hardwood. Hardwoods come in a range of colours such as Cedar and Balau and have the ability to last and hold their structure.
There are now also various brands of composite decking available and this manmade decking is becoming a more and more popular choice. Moulded and coloured to mimic real wood, composite decking is non-slip and resistant to water and fungus making it extremely durable and hardwearing.
We have used decking extensively in our designs including in our Modern Courtyard gardens and Tropical gardens and have the experience and expertise needed to create decking that is safe, strong and long-lasting.
